Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Scrambles, thanks! the whole show was fantastic...I go every year even tho' I always miss the majority of the festival due to work - the BBQ food vendors are Masters and there's one guy who has family members with Celiac, so he makes all these awesome foods and side dishes that have zero risk of cross contamination. I make a point each year to tell him how grateful I am that he always comes back... and then, after stuffing myself silly... I always want ice cream... y'know, cuz it melts into all the spaces between the other food... but I'm seeing only icy drinks, sno-cones... aha! a Mister Ding-a-ling truck! I ordered a banana fudge bomb pop - omg, first off... it's really good. find it. try it. and second, I knew it didn't have a cone...but Sweetie made a comment to check the ingredients - allergy info; contains Milk. good. and the Mother/Daughter Ding-a-ling sales team asked what allergens I was looking for... the Daughter is also Celiac. we had a great chat about how lucky we are nowadays with more choices of better food products

and I think you're right... OK bombed us, but forgot the foto.

43° will be a treat for your fine feathered ladies... between 40-60° seems to be ideal for my babies, they have the most energy, their feathers keep them plenty warm... they don't have to stand with their wings out, panting... trying to catch the tiniest breeze... I know it's off limit topic, but I prefer winter.

winter here! Bought the girls at point of lay (so she told me) put the plastic chook eggs in the nest / it's been two months and finally we have had the first run of eggs this week :) ( isa browns, australoup) think it's only the one laying though! But still pretty happy with a start! Good luck :)

My favorite is fall/spring/warm winter/cool summer!

Living in NewJersey gives us that withe the ocassional really cold days and occasional really hot days.

It's been rough the past week or so with the humidity. Strong storms today and tomorrow.

So do you want to hear what a bad chicken mom I am????

I've been really good at counting my girls the past couple of weeks every since I lost the one. Well last night I counted, got 18 and said, pheww all in. After all I had 20 and I sold two which = 18 right?

Well wrong... I had 20 + 2 baby americauna - 2 I sold - 1 I lost which = 19.

Well I was out walking the dog this morning and was shocked to see a chicken come ambling around the house. I actually wondered if it wasn't mine 'cause I knew I had counted last night. But this is one of my olive eggers that has a distinct poof on her head. Needless to say I am very grateful she came back this morning (she was probably sleeping overnight where she's been laying her eggs I'll never find).

I'm wondering if I miscounted another time and accidently locked out the one I lost???? But it's not like I lock them up early so they're probably roosting somewhere else on these days and with the woods I have I'll never find them in the dark. So thankful my wood/acres are really in suburbia and I have no sign of predators yets (no raccoons, no dogs, etc...).

Wow CLindz! Lucky you! if I miscount repeatedly, I go get the checklist with everyone's name on it. the only pen I have trouble counting is the dome... with 27 chickens inside, all moving around, it's so hard to count accurately... and if I missed on, it would never survive the night outside. so glad yours did!

working double routes everyday this week. I'm already over stressed about it. got up this morning, felt it coming, stayed calm... and puked 3 times. don't know how I'm going to get through today.

so true... one day at a time... just had a totally liquid "morning constitution" if you know what I mean... this is not going to be a fun day. I just bottled up about a gallon of water to take with me so I don't dehydrate

and here we go again. just got a text message that the new girl in our office is having ignition trouble with her car, and will be delivering in a really big pickup truck. can I help her? not really... but I can head out early (now), help her sort, and take about 1 hour worth of her route. sorry kid... there just aren't enough hours in the day to get it all done before the dispatch time. the second office I'm working in also has a dispatch time of 4pm. if it were 5pm... I could do more, not that I want to... I want to get home to care for my flock. it's going to be a scorcher with oppressive humidity today. everyone will get an extra 6 gallons of water. so... I've gotta go haul that around and scoot. my eyes are twitching. I need stress mgt counseling.
