Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Val I figured out what your problem is. Since I assume you've tried pie, have you sworn to watch the techno chicken video until you get an egg? It was only about 2 days from the time I said I would do that before I got an egg. Scroll back for the video. For your convenience I posted the ten hour version.

So the gals begged for "pie" and I gave in. Eggs, oats, frozen peas and flax seed. Their treat after free ranging. We've had lots of rain here, too, and they stayed in the coop a lot yesterday. I saw them sitting in there and had the feeling they were supremely bored, like I should mount a little flat-screen tv in there or something. I'm losing my mind.

No eggs, of course.

I am still so surprised that I have not a broody this year! I didn't "want" one, but you know it is so great having one (One! Not fifteen!

I am now faced with a question. What do I do about next year? Most of the girls began laying in the early winter of 2012. The Leghorns began spring 2013, and I have yet to read about a hatchery Leghorn laying even one egg beyond 2 years. I am curious about breeder stock though.
Anyway, I am going between doing the New Year's hatch-a-long, and seeing what happens with the egg numbers. If I wait and see, I would incubate when the numbers get down to 6/day. Certainly by New Years 2016. If I do the NY hatch, I would sell my girls for $5/each at the bird swap I am going to in May.

Opinions?

I think if you have the opportunity to sell it would be safe to hatch MC!

Ugh I wish it would rain here. It's not hot but it is very humid!!! My girls do not stay inside tho when it rains. The sometimes take shelter under the coop but mostly still wander!

Nice pie Val!!!!!
