Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

MC I have been toying with the idea of rotating half my flock of layers every year so I stay ahead of the 2 year hatchery bird laying problem. I don't really know what to do either about buying and selling the birds. I am not going to buy from TSC again I know that much. I will order from Mcmurray I think.

Edit to add : I think I am going to try the black sex links this time instead of the red sex links

Penny appears to have taken a well deserved day off today. No eggs yet and it's almost noon.

6 days in a row isn't bad for her first week as a layer.

Feeling some pretty heavy duty jealousy for JW here...lol

Lord don't be jealous of me lol I have the potential for 23 eggs a day if everything lays and I'm hoping for a 4th lol. The 3rd egg today I think may be a new layer. It was nowhere close to the boxes. It's funny to see the ones who haven't layed yet checking out the boxes and sitting in them looking around going " well I'm here now what" lol. The had pie today... Homemade bread that was getting kinda old hollowed out and filled with noodles and frozen grapes.

It is almost 1 pm here and no eggs yet. I did let the girls out to free range about an hour ago. It is hot and will continue to be for the nest week.

This weekend I am going to put a slightly taller roost in Rumples pen for Little Bit and Minnie Pearl to sleep on. Then I am gong to try and figure out a nest situation for Rumples. Any ideas?? Like a bucket? She cannot walk. She stumbles everywhere she goes and these days it is only 2-3 feet in one direction.
