Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Im thinking of making a homeade incubator... I have everything but i dont know how to higher and lower the heat in the incubator with just a light... Have any suggestions? Also, i am willing to buy something if t will help...

There you go. Chickenlindz doesn't even count anymore she gets so many eggs. She gets so many eggs, I bet she uses them for paperweights and doorstops! You know how the garbage bag is kinda puffy when you first put it in the garbage can? I bet she tosses an egg or two in there to weigh the bottom down!

You need a thermostat. You can go to the hatching and incubating forum for more info. Without a thermostat your chances of a successful hatch are slim.

A rat snake can come here. It can have all my non existent eggs bwahahahahaha

stopped counting eggs??? how does one even do that?? I'm obsessed with egg numbers. s'matter o' fact ~ I got 22 today! it was a lovely Sunday - the weather turned glorious, a bit humid, but the breeze was cooling - so many firsts today - Big Broody took her baby outside, they all had their first tomato today - and yellow watermelon too - the older flock has had pink watermelon, but it was a first for all the chicks. Big Broody isn't much fun. wish she had a few more, she's so possessive of that lil' baby, I often can't even see it! she won't touch any new food I bring until after I leave, and she won't call her baby over to try it until her door is closed. I cleaned the house throughout the day, it looks fabulous and I only have 1 stinky room left - the small workshop off the garage where I keep the cat litter boxes. that room needs a full cleaning - empty out, sweep & mop - but it only takes about 45 minutes and the entire house is super! so, after coffee tomorrow, I will tackle that room and get er done! then the rest of the next 2 days is all mine! Icing on the cake? I went out to do a last check for eggs, say goodnight... and Peach and the 2 chicks I suspect are pullets were up on the roost! but by the time I got back with the camera, only one chick was left up there... still... my little geniuses!

until BB's baby grows a bit more, this is the only chipmunk pullet I have.

starting to allow myself a wee bit of excitement about the brown one being a pullet. that's Strawberry next to "her" he's got his red patches forming already!

the other chipmunk cockerel - this one's little comb is already pinking up. Strawberry's isn't, but it's mighty poky. no way to tell with the bantam pair for quite a while yet.

their first outing below...

and Mama likes her tomatoes seasoned... a little dirt, a little millet... just right!

these chicks have got me pegged... totally imprinted on me for food. they come running ahead of Mamas now, and don't need any lessons, they dive right in!

and now for some chill time with company who is watching the football game and rooting for the cough cough Giants. Go Bills!

Can you help me with that? Il make a thread and please go look...
sorry, I'm out. I don't know anything whatsoever about incubating. not even details like temps and humidity... but there are threads already existing where you could spend some time reading. you will learn a lot. and you may find all your questions have already been answered if you do a little poking around. it's easier for you to spend some time reading than to have loads of helpful folks keep repeating themselves.

good luck
