Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Mortie, you might want to buy some eggs. Sure thing, as soon as you buy them, the buggers will start laying.

I was telling w4w what sibeowio means lol. I tried buying eggs to trick the universe into producing eggs in my backyard that way. I had like 5 dozen. Didn't work! The universe is smarter than I am, turns out.

Hi lula!

W4w- Should I Buy Eggs Or Wait It Out
smile.png

When we were on vacation last year we spent about $6-7 for a dozen free range eggs because the kids won't eat the regular store bought ones (well, they'll eat them, but the complaining is really irritating). This year we cheaped out and and got regular eggs. Had to smother them in cheddar to make them palatable. So unless you are baking... or have a lot of cheese on hand... Soon you will be so used to tasty eggs, eating ones from the store will truly be an act of desperation.

Have you tried begging? (the chickens)

Still no eggs... :barnie
But, I saw the tail end of some action - not sure if she was a squatting consenting party to this action, or if. I have a rotten roo. Crossing fingers that she was actually squatting for him. Is it sad that chicken sex gives me hope?

No way. Your kids are keeping you young no matter what your chronological age is.

Hershy - could be either...but no matter what, you're one day closer than. You were yesterday! Mine are driving me bonkers making me wait. I have one laying usable eggs. Takes me a week to make an omelette ;)

Been getting my fair share of AARP invites too, so I'm right there with you.

Hang in there Hershy! Sounds like the hormones are starting to flow and eggs are getting close. If the pullet is undesiring of male attention, she can usually avoid it. I've seen some of my little Serama hens reject the rooster (and being a gentleman, he's not overly pushy), and there are a couple that always submit. All the eggs are fertile, however, so I know he's successfully doing his duty.

I have gotten some too. I am 34...

Now that's just wrong! They are money grubbers!

I remember getting "baby brain" when the boys were small. Thought I'd get over it and be back to normal when they got older. Nope! Those brain cells are gone forever!

Quote: Hit the big 5 - O this year. Wonder how old I have to be before they give up? Kids are going to be heading off to college in a couple of years, so I will be going back to work. No retirement for me!
