Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Have you guys seen this? Someone posted it like a week ago but it's just the cutest thing ever, I've watched it probably 100 times. I just keep hitting replay. Over and over and over.

Ok first, I would have no idea what kind of chicken that is based on that picture.  Can you get one from the side that shows everything including the legs?  I'm not a chicken breed expert but there are folks on here who might know.  If they don't, try the "what breed/gender is this" forum.  Your bird's colors are very pretty, I would love one like that.  Makes me want to get a salmon favrelles (I know I spelled that wrong and spellcheck doesn't know what to do with it lol) but someone on here has had a very rough time with them and I have read elsewhere they aren't super hardy so in my climate I probably better not.

I have heard some reports on here that people's chickens are starting to molt as the days are getting a little shorter.  Are you seeing a lot of feathers around?  What are you feeding them?  Do you free range (how much, how often?)  Is it possible they aren't as old as you were told they are?  Where did you get them?

I'm down to one salmon Faverolles. They are definitely not a hardy breed as far as I have seen.

I just checked...nadda. Wilson's egg came at 11:30 or so yesterday so she may yet come through for today. Or she may not. Or maybe Maggie will drop a rubber egg. Or maybe the hawk will use its agile talons to unlock the door to my run and eat them all.

Why must you slander me. I was just trying to get a meal. I know there are lots of squirrels around here but those little

s are FAST! Your chickens looked like a nice alternative. Haven't YOU ever eaten chicken?

Thought so. I rest my case.

TN I am thinking that your girls are young and none of the pictures you posted look like they are ready to lay. I would guess that they range in age from 12-15 weeks. The black ones look like Cochins to me. We will wait with you!
