Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I had.made a comment about my neighbors not wanting my diary chicken butt eggs. Naturally *I* know they don't go through the intestines but they are dummies. They suck if I may say so.
Sadly, you aren't alone. I've heard several folks mention the same thing. (Along with needing a rooster to get eggs from a hen!

) I always wondered how it worked, though. Figured the digestive and reproductive tracts would have to merge at some point, since there is only the one opening, and that an egg would have to travel in part through a passage that also carried feces, even if it was just for a short distance. I didn't have enough imagination to think of a solution where the egg is completely uncontaminated. Very cool how it stays safely in the oviduct as it exits the body. Until it lands under the roost in a big pile of poop!

I meant dirty chicken butt eggs. Amazing how my phone thinks it knows what I mean to say better than I do. We went on an annual pilgrimage today and I took a couple of crummy pictures into order to pretend to be as good as Cheeka...

The babies Mortie. It's hard to get a picture of them all without one making a weird face...

That's not a great pic of them. We take their pictures on that bench every year but it isn't fun because the sun is always in their eyes. It started with one really nice picture we took when Baby Mortie #1 was a year old and we've been doing it ever since, but with not so awesome results :(

so i woke up to go to the coop ad i opened the nesting boxes and guess what i found.... An egg... SHELL! She laid yesterday at 1:00PM and i guess she laid VERY EARLY TODAY and the egg got stepped on or something... what do you think happend? Maybe was it another hen that laid and her shell was soft then cracked open? UGH an egg down the drain :/
It happens Phionex. The eggs sometimes get cracked and the hen have a feast. Not a good thing.

One egg so far today. It was at Penny's usual time but not in her usual box and a smidge darker than usual for her. I am assuming it was hers since Wil laid so late in the day yesterday but who even knows with these birdies.

Help me decide. Should I collect the eggs and give what will amount to a very small number to my folks when we go on vacation, or enjoy the long awaited fruits of my labors myself??
Be greedy..............
