Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Wow. You have some nice corals. There is a marine preserve in southern Maui loaded with yellow tang because they can't collect there. It's one of our favorite fishies because you can see them from the road! I don't see your avatar clown fish. Still in there?

It was 72º today! Good heavens, I have to water now. In January. Feh. Very slight chance of rain this weekend, but seems to be fading. The drought continues...

On a happy note, Grace the Welsummer started laying last week for a total of 3 eggs, and Poppy (my avatar) laid one pretty blue the other day. The Serama are popping tiny eggs out all over. They will max out at about 15-20 each and then go broody for 3 months!

I am going to dissuade them from sitting this year because that's when the mites tend to show up.
Great news on the eggs!

Well.... I think the raccoon came back, but the game camera did not pick him up if he did. I'm going to try lowering the camera and putting it closer to the coop. It might not be picking up small critters. There were what I thought were fresh prints in the snow. I had brushed the old ones away. The girls are safe. The wire is buried about a foot out all around the pen and the latches are secure. Even I have trouble opening the doors. The night before the raccoon came, I had left the door ajar. DH saw it and closed it for me. It scare me that things could have been so different.

Lynnc.... I'd use traps also. Last year we had a mice problem and traps worked really well. In about 2 weeks, I got 23 mice. It was kinda sad towards the end though. The mice got smaller and smaller. You know.... baby mice. I guess since momma got killed, they had to venture out to look for food. But.... pretty much go rid of them, but I think this is a good time to set out a few traps. DH found a dead one in the garage.

I lost that clownfish, along with all but a couple of my fish I had at the time to an outbreak of marine velvet, a parasite that kills fish often before you even know you have it. It was devastating, and it was before I joined this board. I just liked that picture.

I do have clownfish. I have a wyoming white and a gold stripe maroon.

These are all fish that were lost in that disaster.

Yellow tang that was the size of my hand

Hippo, Regal, or Blue tang.

Flame Angel

This is not a yellow tang. Well, it's yellow and it's a tang but it's actually a Caribian Blue Tang. They start life yellow and turn blue when they get older.

Mystery Wrasse. Probably my favorite.

Scribbled Rabbitfish. Loved the stripes.

Here are some pics of the current residents. This purple tang is I think the only fish I left from "the great fish disaster of 2013" These run about $150 right now

This is my Wyoming White clownfish. They are also about $150

This is my Lavender Tang. They're nice and cheap at about $25

same fish

This is my maroon stripe clownfish.

That's not all the current residents, but gives you an idea.

Love the fish Mortie! I used to have fresh water tanks but never got brave enough to try saltwater. I don't have them anymore but it was so relaxing and a lot of work too! Kinda like chickens! Lol
