Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

After a week of staring at these eggs and watching which Lav Am laid what, I have been able to tell the difference between them. Lil Bit lays the slightly pointy egg. Minnie lays the rounder egg. The shade of blue can vary ever so dlighly. Ok... off to Bed and Bath.

What is a UP? LOL. Ask them. Pronounce it you-pee. People from the UP tend to be Packers fans whereas folks from the LP of michigan tend to be a little more ill informed and go with the lions ;)

Hello! I made it pack. I say accidently, because we never planned to have chickens, they were kind of rescued.

My daughter was working at our State Fair in an animal life exhibit. They delivered and hatch baby animals throughout the fair. On the last day of the fair the baby birds (chickens, turkeys and ducks) were auctioned off. While she was still there cleaning up afterwards, a guy brought back 4 chicks and said he changed his mind and left them. She was the only one left there, so she brought them home. We obviously were not set for them. We placed them on a heating pad for the night and it had an auto shut off. We ended up losing only one that first night and we jumped in head first that next day. A week later she brought home 2 more chicks from her work at the farm supply store. So we have 5. 3 Red Sex Links, 2 hens and a Roo. ( Henrietta, Shelly and Cogburn) and 2 Rhode Island Reds. (Lucy and Reba). We spent the next 6 or so weekends building our coop.

So that is how we started this journey. Learning along the way. I have found them to be very entertaining. Have you ever watched them fight over one grape! lol

So I guess patience at this point I won't start squeezing them daily yet.

Thanks for your relies!

12!!

Cleaned both coops which got a good dosing of wood ash. Dumped more ash in the favorite dust bathing areas. No more sitings of mites but continuing to be cautious.

Goat barn is almost totally finished. Pens are all done, now I just have to add some finishing touches and stain the Dutch doors. Aren't these beautiful? And they're the standard doors.

Mortie... ha ha... I have no clue what part of where they are from. Just that they are from around there and are Packer fans. Part of DHs family left the Michigan/Wisconsin area a few generations back and homesteaded in this area around the Yakk River.

Project... bless you for rescuing those chicks. Now to take a peek at your coop.

CLindz.... I LOVE dutch doors. I don't know how, but some how I will have Dutch doors and a mudroom. Its on the bucket list.

FOUR eggs so far. I am making dog food and I might make some curry fried chicken for dinner.

Hey all, I'm back!
The girls do not like the snow XD
No eggs from the little girls yet, I sent an email to the breeder and she got a bit shirty with me :/ welp, your the one losing the business.
They were sold as point of lay, one 24 weeks, one 20, it's been 10 weeks and the combs are barely even PINK.
I don't mind, I raise chickens as pets not egg producers but I do feel a bit cheated on.
Oh well, they do make me laugh!
There were funny with the snow, only Babs and Zazzles dared venture out, and not for long! Before I knew it they were all sat under the coop. :)
