The black hen with the butt fluff is Lil Bit. She is Ameraucana. The hen with her is Smoke, a BSL. The other black hen is Jemma. She is also BSL.

I thought that said "heroine". I will name my future (we all know I will have chickens again) chickens; Cocaine, Heroin, Crack, Angel Dust... I know. A heroine should not be confused with heroin. But it's where my mind went, and I'm looking forward to it!

This made me laugh so much! No, I had a hen called hermione because around her neck (she was a glossy black hen) she had orange and gold. In the sun her black feathers would sparkle blue and green, I always thought it looked like Magic dancing around her (and the black was her Cape) she was gorgeous rip x

that's little pullet Frankie squeezing under Fannie to stake her claim on the roost as well as in the social order. that's a pretty bold move for one of such tender age. once she turned around and faced the other way, it was smoother for her as Fannie could no longer peck her in the head.

and my Aunt had to make a comment on FB about how brave little Gossy is, being a Mama in the middle of winter... brave?? oh yeah... she's enduring the harsh conditions of a deep nest in a warm igloo and the extremes of foraging from the palm of my hand!!!
