There was not a thing in side it....it was round'ish with the two sides stuck together no hole in it..and the other two have really hard shells..oh well![]()
The Australorps are three pullets and three cockerels.Ron, you're going to be waiting a real long time for all those cockerels to lay!Love the Australorps. I had to put down my hatchery A'lorp last week.
Matilda had a prolapsed cloaca that got worse. I miss her. Such a good hen.![]()
Remember my troubles with the 3 pullets that I got from up north that had the respiratory disease? Those were culled and luckily it did not spread beyond those 3 babies. Got the placements a couple of months later, 2 Orps and a Marans. The Orps are getting BIG, especially the cuckoo. The jubilee (project) has leg stubble that I suspect is from strong Cochin influence and the Marans (also project, but not sure what exactly) is a nice bird and has been laying for over a month now. Her eggs are medium dark (like a Welsummer color) and the shell quality is beautiful, but the eggs are so small and aren't getting bigger. They are the size of my bantam Cochin eggs! Do you know if Marans are known for laying small eggs?![]()
Lola the Marans.
Buster Posey (cuckoo) and Figgy Pudding (jubilee).
This pic was a month or so ago. Both the Orps are more red with bigger combs and wattles. Maybe some eggs soon!![]()
Mrs. B from Texas is going to ship me some hatching eggs this year. I may have an extra pullet or two--if they hatch well.Yes, maybe next year I will have room for another Australorp or 2. Not sure I want to get more hatchery birds though, so I will have to find a source.
