Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Love it, MC :)

Well. Slot one up in the fail category. I can't believe it.

Once again, you ladies called it right.

The eggs have been in the incubator for 4 hours and already I am looking at the calendar figuring out when is the soonest I can candle them, watching my favorite chicken embryo development video over and over, and obsessing over the thermometer (the bator is holding rock solid so far, knock on wood, and my thermometer appears to be very accurate).

This is going to be a long 21 days.

I'll try to keep it to a dull roar over here, but honestly what would it be around here if mortie wasn't obsessively waiting for...something.

Oh - and two other interesting things. For the second day in a row, someone laid an egg on the floor in the coop (or from the roost) and Midge is lingering on the nest again. In fact, I'm concerned if I don't go out there right now she may sleep on it.

I want to stop her from going broody but I guess if I can't I might as well stick a couple of eggs under her? I dunno. I'd really just rather she kept on laying eggs and forgot about this whole broody business. She is a pretty broody bird. Been broody twice (if she is headed that way now) in the 6 months she's been laying. I know there are serious brooders (Gossy, for example) but I'm impressed by her tenacity...

Scrambles, I was reading my old hatching stuff from last year and I loved something you said....it made me chuckle. I'll dig it up and post it.

I noticed I was much funnier back then. I mustbe gettting old and crabby.
