Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Could she possibly have had 2 in the chute (so to speak)? and that one had to come out? I'm just kinda freaked out about it..trying to make sure i'm not missing anything that could be wrong with her. She seems fine...actually she's up at the coop now, walking around...wonder if she has another one in there trying to get out?????????

OH NOM NOM NOM!!!

whatcha got Mama?

Goldie is perfect. still hops in my palm too.

the 6th chick, blonde, that I wasn't able to photograph yesterday, but I knew was there!

the last little black chick is under Mama's right wing.

Huh! Who are YOU???

#7 !!!

that's a little Vienna Sausage... from breakfast. they ate it after the watermelon fest.

so, she has Goldie, the only silver chick, 2 brown, 2 black and 1 blonde and 1 chipmunk.

Debby, I know it seems that they'll lay at a consistent time, but that's sort of inaccurate. because it takes approximately 25 hours to produce and lay an egg... she should lay progressively later as each week passes at least... when they reach the point of lay and it's dark, they will skip that day and lay first thing in the morning, starting the cycle over. she's most likely fine. I've had hens drop an egg at the water bucket or out in the run/yard... oops, peek behind and walk on... I certainly wouldn't worry unless she starts acting differently or keeps dropping eggs randomly...

I agree, sometimes they can't hold them in long enough to get to the nest box! ;)

Cheeka beautiful pics again!!! My girls free range all day unsupervised. Thankfully nothing comes during the day. I'll have to be vigilant because once fall starts I'll coop them up til spring. Hawks are just too persistent that time of year as I learned the hard way. Thankfully the run is plenty big enough but boy do they love to free range. Savannah is actually really good w the chickens. She loves to go into the run and see if the left any treats for her. She will chase every now and then but it's not serious. She could easily catch them and mostly leaves them be. I'm hoping by winter she'll be a good chicken dog and can protect them. That'll make me feel much better!!!!

Saw the price of eggs in grocery store today.....wheww....almost 5 bucks for organic and store brand was around 2.70 for medium sized.....i guess the price hike finally reached us down here

I was wondering what the price might be up to and I was at the market last night after work. I forgot to check. but my customers keep asking me if I raised the price or leave me a note with their egg order stating "let me know if I owe you more $"
nope, I still charge $2. I don't want eggs piled all over the place. I want people to buy them up!

I crashed hard last night, fell asleep at 8:30. so of course, I'm up at 2:30. ugh. hopefully I will fall back to sleep soon. still can't get on FB. seems like a regular Saturday thing. very very annoying.

LOL...I hear that! and I'm sure your customers appreciate that...I've seen "fresh eggers" around here are going up a little as well.....but they probably only have a small flock and are not overrun with eggs....Bless your heart....hope you're not "dragon" this morning...hehe
