Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

my chicks are fine despite my absence for an additional FIVE hours on top of what was scheduled. the knucklehead who was scheduled to cover me never showed up! my PM is untrustworthy enough that I knew I had to go do it myself. I wouldn't put it past him to blame me for not doing it despite not being obligated to, having already worked a full time day. he can pay me overtime instead. and I cancelled that same carrier for Saturday, found someone else. can't be tolerating that behavior even though my stupid PM will insist that we offer any hours to him first. why reward absenteeism with more $$ ?? I was so worried about the chicks all day. they'll be fine from now on. I won't worry so much.

omg W4W! I was still finding shell bits stuck to me this morning! lol what a kook I am. all for the love of living things.

speaking of living things... Chester took off tonight. slipped right through my fingers, gave me a quick glance and poof. he was acres away in seconds! I haven't heard him bark for a couple of hours. the last time he did this, he didn't come back until midnight... I remember posting here how freaked out I was. this time, I'm too tired from being stressed to worry too much. he'll find his way home, hopefully before I crash for the night. Cheddar Cheese head!

Ha! the Cheese has returned! I had barely clicked the "home" button after my last post and he came a'knockin'!
11:45 PM he's smarter than he looks...

I miss her so much my heart won't stop aching.

so for Esther. I think it was a matter of age. the newest couldn't keep up, got a peck... still couldn't keep up and the pecking became devastating. the first was the golden chick, the others were black and black and white. she's been perfect since I took the last eggs away. still has her beautiful 7 - all kinds of colors, silver, black, brown and gold. I'll try to get pics of them this afternoon.

See, Cheeka? You should have breast hatched them all! Some women breastfeed. You breasthatch.

I've read that owls will eat their babies if the eggs hatch too far apart. Maybe same with chickens??

So I'm seriously considering making my 3 mos buff laced polish into a house chicken. All she does is run around the yard like something is chasing her. I checked her crest and the feathers aren't blocking her vision. Her sister is much more normal. I feel so bad for her. She hangs by herself and seems petrified of everything.

Puppy's favorite resting spot!!

Karl-totally agree w the words of the wise on integrating. I've got quite a mixed flock and have never had any issues when letting them get to know each other for a few days before letting them be together.

MC-uggh I feel your pain. If you pay for something it should be done right.

awwww how cute is that...gotta love puppers & kids pic's....he looks like he's enjoying himself....Is he a beagle.? I had one that I named Taz bec. all she wanted to do was run circles around the fenced yard...and when we left for work she would scale the fence and we would find her in the afternoon laying on someone else porch in the afternoon,..just laying there, goofy look on her face...like she owned it....

MC you crack me up more than I crack my own self up! it was something I surely won't forget!

Debby, yep, he's a Beagly-Boy. and he's just the most wonderfully happy dog. great rescue... he owns us all. runs the house with that goofy smile.
