Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

My Babies!

first pic are Gretel's chicks, they were being very standoffish. 1 cockerel, two pullets. Henry was babysitting, and photobombing.

the rest of the pics in the row above and the row below are Louise and Cressa's 3 chicks. one looks like it's frizzled on the wings. all look like pullets at the moment. even if frizzle wing is standing tall.

the rest are Esther's 7 chicks. they are so cute. I did rinse the watermelon off. after I flipped it back over, they went a little nuts for it.

the silver is Goldie. looking very pretty and 100% chicken as of today. no more willingly hopping in my hand. it was not happy to be caught at all. I guess that's best.

Coop and run version 5.0 is finally complete and they love it! Now I can think about which breeds to get to keep these two company, I am thinking - a Frizzled Buff Laced Polish, a Black English Orpington, a Welsummer and maybe a double silver laced Barnevelder or a Wheaten Marans or a Gold Laced Wyandotte, or maybe a Silkie or a Salmon Faverolle or a Cream Legbar. GAHH!! There are too many choices, you guys will have to help me decide, I am thinking of getting 4-6 giving me a total occupancy of 6-8.

Fences make good neighbors....

we put up fence posts one day and at night he pulled them out, we have had the cops out about 8 times since we moved in, he moved in the same week we did, it has been nice lately as the last police men,( lady) gave him a ear full, so its not been to bad, i have cypes trees up on 2 sides and one side is his, we can not see him now that the trees have gown.

it's been pouring all day. we haven't had a rain free day since Mylee left. some clear moments, but rain... everyday. it's been a week or so since the fox killed Stella... I wasn't going to let them out anyway, but the rain has been a good excuse. now I'm ready for it to stop. it's only 55 degrees. I'm ready to turn the furnace back on...

I made a Pie so the flock could have a hot meal. now I have sat like a lump all day. very boring. no good movies on either.

Raining here a ton too! Last night I was drenched trying to get the babies to bed. They didn't want to leave the cover of the outside coop they were hiding under. The things we do for our chickens.

So MC any eggs?

Nice set up Ming! I'm partial to polish and esp buff laced. Tho all my polish are very "unique" personality wise. They cause me many tense moments. I'm in love w my silver laced Wyandotte. They are pretty and very sweet! I'm up to 38 and have so many breeds I couldn't choose if I had to!!

Thankfully my neighbors are nice which is a fishing since about 8 of my chickens went wandering over today. They got some dirt delivered so of course my girls had to check it out!

My new roo just ripped a quarter size chunk of skin out of my hens neck! I have them separated now. Besides neosporen what should I put on her neck, if anything?
