Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

and a good reason to have a pooch, to eat the eggs the little one shares with the floor! she's so precious!!

I entered the BYC Calendar Contest for 2016. my photos are on page 82 of the thread. might stand a chance...

started Lyme treatment today. 6 weeks of antibiotics then some tests to see if it needs to continue. the only thing I notice is the tinnitus is extra loud.

I am your 11th ovation for your contest entries! Love them.

Sure hope the antibiotics do the trick. Did you get a definitive diagnosis, or is this just in case?

Apparently the wait has been over for me and she forgot to tell me.
9 eggs I found under her!! 9eggs in 6 days?!?!

9 eggs in 6 days means some of them are not hers! They share nests all the time. You may have yet another layer.

Hi Cheeka,
Good to hear you are getting some treatment. I do hope it works for you! I had a friend who had tinnitus and I researched some natural treatments for it. Here's the link if you're interested in trying something different. The white noise suggestion seemed to work for my friend, along with the Ginkgo Biloba.

And am excited you are going to be in calendar contest, if you don't get in it, they are caaarazyyyyyy! LOL....

Take care & keep on healing!!! :)
Thank you for the link. My poor hubs has been going nuts with the ringing and has been looking for relief. I have it too, but mostly from lack of sleep.

I have been away for a while. My sis and I took an 8 day road trip and I'm still trying to catch up, plus school starts Wed. for the boys. Both in high school now, but at different schools in different towns.

Do I need to get a chauffeur's license?

No more fox attacks, but they are out there because another neighbor lost 2 hens last weeks. Bantams got let out for the first time in 3 weeks. They were very happy.

I have judged some contests this year--the way we do it we do not see the ovations.

You can really tell the good ones from the ok and bad ones though!

Jaz needs to get taller instead of rounder. The kid was 32 pounds at a year. I worry about her. More when her parents talk to me.

Oh well! I'll just keep loving her, and feeding her nutritious eggs.
I was able to let the chickens out last night, but only for about half an hour. Long enough for Steven to run next door, and try to seduce the neighbor's girls. He was so ticked I made him return to my property.

OMG! I gave Jazlyn a fork (toddler, ofcourse) with her eggs yesterday. I showed her how to stab them, and she seemed to get the hang of it! Not that I will be forcing her to use utensils yet, but knowing she can already is pretty cool! I did come upon an issue. In today's world, a rectangle is the shape of a phone. I used a puffed cereal container (like a Pringles container) and she did finally talk into it. That was funny.

LMAO!  I"m sorry that happened to you...yes they will do that, on the turn of a dime!  are you going to let her hatch them out?  since you have a Roo maybe they are fertilized?

Maybe in the early spring I'll hatch some if the hens turn broody, I don't want chics through the winter

howdy everyone! all's good up here, no bad side effects from the high antibiotics, I stay out of the sun anyway... but have finally conquered my anxiety over free range - so I am wearing long sleeve gauzy shirts and a hat (one that Royce isn't offended by...) karl, sorry you got flogged - I've been, several times, from bantam feather dusters who can only do damage when they leap from the roost at my face to the large fowl... Royce sneaked up on me last Summer and did some serious damage to my thighs and my last pair of jeans that didn't have holes yet. he left a 2.5 inch spur in my leg. I intended to kill him for that, once I was able to get up and move... but that's when it dawned on me that it was the baseball cap. he's never so much as flapped his wattles at me since.

I got new egg customers today. and while we chatted for a moment, they asked about anyone who might have roosters, lambs, sheep, and rabbits for sale. I was direct - for eating? I asked... they said yes. I learned (deciphering the thick Italian/English mixed language) that the older gentleman has gout and can no longer enjoy red meat. I told them I could bring them 6 roosters tonight. or fewer... they were thrilled, clapping and inviting me for dinner when the job is done. I'd have to explain Celiac... I do know how to say no gluten in Italian... I just don't know if they know what gluten is. anyway... it's done; I delivered 3 full breed large fowl, near one year old roosters, and 3 10 month old half bantam half large fowl cockerels, only one of which is on the smallish side. I asked for $5 per bird and they were prepared to pay much more.
the lady had a $50 in her hand for starters. I'm happy with $30 - it's given me a free 10' x 10' x 8' pen, I kept the smallest from that brood - Cosmo, half Silkie half RIR because he' a hugging chicken. according to Mylee, I am never allowed to eat a hugging chicken. I think she has a point. he's kind of a funny looking boy, but he's got his Dad's sheen and ultra charming personality. I feel badly for the rest, but it's their purpose.and I have a really hard time eating them despite how phenomenal they taste.

long story... but the end is I can move a lot of my birds around now. I can give Brutus and Dutch a harem of young bantam pullets and move Royce and his Foster hens in the Dome. there will be some throw-downs over that in the beginning. Fannie picks fights with Blu and Wilma, but the rest seem to be fine when they are in the same territory. they'll work it out...
