Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

That's the bathroom door. I still don't wanna get up to go. TMI? Maybe. But I mean it as an example of how much I don't wanna move today.

Well at least you were close enough if the urge got overwhelming!

Great jokes, MC! Got my first chuckle of the day. Love that frog laying on his back. Looks like utter relaxation. Maybe you can make a mini hammock for him.

I could see the snow in the pics. Brrrr. At first I was thinking, why don't you just bundle Duckling up and take her out with you. Then I realized you would freeze to death because everything would take 3 times longer! I never had to deal with little kids and snow at the same time. Haven't actually seen snow for about 10 years!

Hope today gets better. You need some good dog snuggles!

Ron! Rain rain rain rain!!!! It's drizzling here right now. Our forecast is only calling for 5 days of rain, then a break and more to follow. They are predicting that our area will be back up to 100% of normal in 2 weeks!

When they say "normal" I wonder if they have already averaged in the last for years of drought? Hoping for lots of snow.

This is a warm storm so far. What kind of eggs are you hatching for the E-Hal? Because you must be hatching eggs!

I am still deep into chicks from the NYD hatcha a long. I would normally be hatching for the egg farmer in Winters but he has not contacted me about hatching.

I may only be hatching for myself this year--that would be some super blue egg layers and hopefully some blue black splash marans.

I hatched 33 chicks from Trader Joes and Whole Foods fertile eggs--Those chicks are keeping me busy!

What breed are the super blue layers? Arkansas blues? I keep trying for blue eggs, but seems green and turquoise are the best it gets for me. They're still pretty! I forget, do you raise and eat the males?

Yes!

I raise and eat the males.

dmrippy sells them--ameraucana x leghorn so they are very similar to the Arkansas blue egg layers.

They lay blue eggs but I bet some could be a bit green--depends on the Ameraucana used of course.

Sturgis was a couple of years old when we got him. He never EVER used his nose to find a treat. It was Easter, and I hid a dozen eggs with treats inside while he was upstairs the night before. In the two minutes (maybe five, but I doubt it) it took me to get the camera, all 12 were in a pile open and empty. He now uses his nose when he knows I threw a treat, and he didn't see where it went.

I can hide them in the yard (an acre) and he will find them, carry them to one spot for a certain space, and open them. He covers the whole yard only using two spots to open them.

I filled his stocking with them one Christmas. There were about three dozen, but I only gave him a few. While Dave and I were talking, Sturgis grabbed his stocking, and ran off with it. First he pawed, then stomped on the stocking to dispense the eggs. He finally shook the crap out of it to get the last few, We were enjoying the show too much to stop him.

Hahaha oh my god that is amazing!!!! He sounds like a fantastic dog!!!!

My dog would probably just crush or eat the egg LOL

He does love find it though. I taught it to him a while ago and he too was iffy about finding treats but i had read something about it and thought I'd try it. At first i made it really easy and in plain sight but then i started hiding them different places, high, low, hidden, etc and he finds them. At first he had difficulties searching up high but now he has no problems. He was really good at it but then we stopped doing it. I still do it sometimes now but now i often help him find the last treat or few or point him towards treats so he's less independent. I'm going to go back to making him find them on his own and/or make it easier again during retraining lol the funny part is he will often walk right past treats several times but he always eventually finds them
