Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

19-25 weeks. I have a ways to go. I thought my babies were 10 weeks but they're really 8 weeks. I'm not even really sure how I will know when one of them starts laying because I already have a couple that lay blue eggs, if these happen to be blue layers. I hope they lay different shades of green.
My Pullets from the New Years Day hatch are now 14 weeks old. One of them is Squatting for me! A couple of others are getting big red combs and wattles too.

I think these are the chicks I hatched from Whole Foods fertile eggs. They are a cross of commercial hybrids, a brown breed and a leghorn breed.

I do believe someone in the Pennsylvania thread just said that she was going to sell off her chickens if another one died mysteriously. No one else caught it, or at least commented on it. I have her blocked already, but decided to see what her post was about. I did ask her if that was what she was saying, and if she was, that it was completely irresponsible. This is the reason that we have to watch where we get our adult chickens from. Okay, any chicken.

I may have accidentally responded to this person on a couple of emergency threads. They are now aware it is contagious.
Poor chicken.

My Columbian Rock Cross laid at 16 weeks to the day. OK had said something on page two or three ( I have been here since the first post, but didn't comment for a while) and I remember thinking to myself that when my chickens got to be 20 weeks, I would not get antsy. I would be patient. I went outside a few minutes later, and there was an egg.

I am sorry to say that the chick in the house with the injury is actually a pullet. I thought it just was growing a slow comb. The others are far enough along, and her's is still tiny and almost clear. I wish I could fix her leg! I was all set to break her neck, when this thing with my brother-in-law happened. For some reason, killing another living thing is just not in me right now. I did try to splint it, but she got it off.

That's okay. With my brother-in-law gone, they won't be moving to the farmhouse. I only planned on keeping about four pullets. I'm pretty sure I have eight,
That reminds me. I keep counting 16 outside. There should be 17.
