MC, if you had to, you could probably find someone near who sells fresh eggs.
Ron, I have so many older hens molting now, lucky if I get any eggs at all, but you just made me think one of my new pullets might be laying. An Ameraucana hen has been laying pretty steadily, but noticed 1 of her eggs this week is a lot smaller. Maybe the EE pullet is laying! What are the chances the EE lays the same bright turquoise color? I would be really happy if she did. My other EE lays a grayish green. Can an older hen that's been laying regularly suddenly lay smaller eggs?
I have seen all of these things happen! Chickens are amazing in their quirky ways.
Usually in the 3 to 4 age range I will see an occasional small egg. And yes, EEs can lay similar eggs depending on what they really are. Some hatcheries sell improved Quecha that were imported 50 or so years ago. Those are more consistent in egg color.
