That's a long time without real eggs. Does your Ameraucana show any signs of being ready? I just got the first blue eggs of the year from my Legbars and maybe one of the EEs. The days are getting longer... it should be soon for you.

hahaa There were a couple clues that I missed until you invoked the name Duckling!
I feel for Duckling. First time I had store eggs was at a grade school friend's house. The yolks were so pale, I was afraid to eat them, thought there was something wrong with them. I'm sure I did eat them, because the way I was raised wouldn't have allowed me to be rude OR waste food.
A little cheese sprinkled over scrambled store eggs helps a lot.
