Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I BUY store bought eggs for the hens to eat and we eat their eggs.....i have 2 little 6 week old chicks that love scrambled eggs in the morning.....i also sell a couple of dozen a week.....

Do you feed them the shells too?

Is the rain bad there? We only have rain in the winter months here-- Mostly from November to March

Nah just your heavy down pours and lightning and thunder. Sometimes very windy. But yeah sometimes big storms and cyclones but nothing yet

NO, not the store bought eggs, but i feed them back their egg shells after i bake them

The hybrid breeds are egg laying machines! The more heritage breeds are slow but steady with laying eggs

Yeah cross breed chooks lay very good

Chick update....
all is well with the Littles. They are 5 weeks old and cold hardy. My frizzle hen has been low hen in the pecking order, so she is letting the Littles know that she is above them.
My Biggies have not come off of their winter break. Smoke is 9 years old now. The other 2 are 3+ years. I hope that I have pullets in this group of 6.
My little all black chick is very friendly and adventurous. I think it’s a Liege Fighter.

You should probably buy a carton for now, and then be patient and wait and provide a clean environment for them
