Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I hear you..lol...I'll get you to help me make that decision. Something I know nothing about but thats where I count on you and your expertise. I can count on you

The chickens are the real experts! Lol, I just watch them and give food water and shelter....their little antics are very fun though! I am waiting for the much needed rain from isaac...just sprinkles so far...seeded and top dressed some patches...waiting...waiting.

I just checked the weather for cast, and i swear, it said isaas is sending us lots of 'STEAM' ...what?! No, whaaaa? Steam? Are they smoking funny things or something? By the time I got closer to the TV it was gone. I gotta go rake or mow the yard or something. It sure feels like steam I'm telling ya.

... steam, dang... y'all are boiled!

well, i hope it gathers together at the top of your mountain and forms more than an itty bitty cloud that only gives you a few rain drops, a nice steady (not hurricane force) rain storm would be nice. it's bright and sunny here, hotter than i can tolerate for more than 15 minutes at a time. coop thermometer says 86 now, so it's finally starting to cool off.
... and break is over, back out to finish lacing in the second coop, all the hardware cloth has been fitted into place... very secure! and they love it inside, they've kicked all the hay into one corner... they seem so fastidious and tidy. they do not like it when i clutter up their living space with bedding. they always kick it out of everywhere. maybe they have such large fluffy butts that they don't need any padding?????

Aug, all the buildup and hype, we had a dusting of rain this morning, and since then, only steam. Very hot outside, I am also taking it a few minutes at a time. The radar shows nothing on the screen...gee!

this handsome fellow will me MINE! someone in PA needs to re-home him for space reasons, not bc he is aggressive... I am so psyched! if I don't have to work tomorrow, I'm going to go get him. He can live in the portable run for a months quarantine but still be able to see the rest of the flock. He's young, forgot to ask how many weeks...looks like he is close in age to my gang... maybe a week or 2 younger... I've never been unable to add critters successfully, time and attention is key... even if he does become aggressive, I still have Barney's old rooster stick... Barney was so dominant, and doing roostery things so early in his life, I'm fairly certain that if he were still here, he would have become quite a handful by now...
I know with EE's mixed backgrounds, anything is possible when breeding, but I would think I would have at least a 25% chance of getting more blue/lavender birds with this guy and my Blu.
I sure do hope you're right ACW and that I do get a broody, even if it's one of the BR's...

just got a PM from his owner, he was hatched on May 23, so he is 4 weeks younger than my gang, my gang hatched on April 20

Thats great! Nice looking rooster. Glad you got another one.

Wow! That is so neat! He is a looker too and the perfect age to join your group. I am predicting the sound of little peeps for you this spring...hope you have an extra nest box for the broody! Love that beard, he is just starting his plumage, going to be nice.
