Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

ROGER'S LAMENT

I want it all, there isn't enough!
there's only 45 pounds of this stuff!
the clippings were scarce, only 3 bags!
Do you expect me to share with the rest of these hags?
the apples are mine! the pumpkin too!
and don't ask me to share my scratch with you!
a handful of seeds? are you kidding me?
there's pounds in that bag! I'm taking all 3!
What are you doing? you can't take it back!
I'm starving I say! it's food that I lack!

there is a little "tip" on the silver pointer, it's pinned by the suspected double yolk egg, but wherever the "tip" is, indicates the size and approximate weight of the egg

this egg is 23 oz, medium size, one step away from the beginning of large. the scale didn't come with any instructions, it's pretty basic, but it's a cute addition to my kitchen... I do have a jewelers scale, but I haven't gone upstairs to get it... it has measures for as small as grains, carats, grams and ounces...

peewee doesn't even hit 18... I've had a couple of peewee eggs, they are so cute... and they have no impact on the scale at all

There is 45 pounds of layer crumble in the feeder. I dumped three full bags of grass clippings mixed with leaves in the run for them. They had apples and pumpkin today too. Two cans of scratch one this morning and one this afternoon. And Roger has to rip the bottom out of a 3 pound bag of bird seed because she is starved to death.
And Roger has to rip the bottom out of a 3 pound bag of bird seed because she is spoiled by her daddy! Come on, admit it OK, Roger has you wrapped around her little... uhh... toe?

Cheeka and Sallysec (and anyone else back east) I hope Sandy's visit is short and gentle. Take care and batten down those chickens!

Spoiled? I think she is suicidal. But she does know when to back off at the last minute and turn on the charm. Good thing i'm not hot headed of she would be no headed. I'm not going to admit anything. But I will tell you this. Roger will probably die.........from old age.

4 so far today, Isis' egg looks so blue against green, yet it's green, especially when it's against a blue background.

Wilma tried to take the eggs from my hand, she wasn't pecking at them, she was opening wide and trying to get a grip, and then she tried to roll them out... she'd make a nice broody mama... she's not broody (yet), hopefully she won't before Spring

we are definitely battening down in this area, the schools have been sandbagged, and the tech depts have moved all the equipment to the 2nd floor, basements are emptied... the town trucks are all in position, ready to combat Sandy if she brings herself our way... the reservoir at the Gilboa dam is overfull and they are actively trying to move water out. When Irene hit, the reservoir was about half empty... we could have a problem with the fact that it is full to overflowing now... we'll have to see... I'm safe on my hill, but have the generator ready to go in case of power outage...

The last of My ISAs (4 in all) layed her first egg today! 1st one has been laying for 17 days with one egg every single day. 2nd has layed an egg each day for the last 3. 3rd had 1st yesterday and second today. And them today my little Nugget. I would never have dreamed she was ready. Shes just a tiny thing and she layed me the cutest little egg today! heres her first little one with My Dumpling's biggest one so far and a pic of the dozen I have gotten between them this week! Now to get my 3 RIRs laying I will be all set!

ETA the 1st two are laying in the coop. One is laying in the basement window well and Nugget just made a nest in the fallen leaves on the opposite side of the house. LOL No ones getting out of the pen tomorrow until the afternoon!
