Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have 11 girls, ages 14wks to maybe 5mo, and got my 1st egg on Wednesday and 1 today. I am so excited! I just wish i knew who to kiss and am wondering when the rest are gonna start. Yay!

howdy howdy howdy... i'm filthy, exhausted... but I'm Finished! got the new sump pump installed, got abut 11 gallons of water set aside for the animals if the power goes out, and 10 gallons for me... 10 gallons of gasoline for the generator, 10 gallons of kero for the heater if the Nor'Easter brings snow to slam into the hurricane wind and rain... have a full oil tank, but if no power... = no furnace... I never set the generator up to run the furnace or water, altho' it's powerful enough... have fresh batteries and rechargeables are all charged, candles... non-perishable food... stocked up today on dog food, cat food and chicken feed
house work is mostly done, all the dishes and the laundry are done... haven't vacuumed, but I don't care, I can take care of the rest of it when I get home from work tomorrow. maybe. I'm the only express carrier left so if there are a lot of parcels, it's gonna be a really long day.

by the time I finished, it was pitch dark, so I have to stick with my count of TWO eggs for the day, both brown, good job Rose and Violet!

Kind of the opposite of how I make it rain here, by forgetting to roll up the car windows or leaving out a pair of shoes or something.

I'm glad your favorite girl didn't get eaten in the woods. Did you ever eat that ginormous egg? Double yolk?

Congrats on your first egg. Funny how exciting it is, and for me, it hasn't worn off. I'm still pleasantly surprised every time I open the nest box door and find eggs waiting for me.

the storm is not good for us that is for sure but i do hope all this preperation and perspiration will make it easier on us if the storms are bad... all the chicks are in the run/coop i will put them in the coop for a couple days while the storm rolls through... no free ranging for the next few days but lots of food they can eat

You'd better not ever trip and fall in the chicken pen. Roger will get you! Cheeka will have to write a new poem titled "Roger's Revenge". Hopefully it will not be your epitaph, but I'd be careful if I were you. I watched a hen catch, kill, and eat a fairly large lizard and was strongly reminded of a Jurassic Park velociraptor.... brutal.

oh the relief is still palpable for my Blu... I was heartsick for a good 10 minutes... makes me want to build a wall around my property... but with my luck, I'd build the wall and the sneaky fox would be on the inside when the last brick is laid...
I didn't eat that egg yet, I almost did last night, but realized how just how many eggs I have that are a wee bit older... but I will take a picture when I do crack it!
I'm so so so hoping that I did all this prepping for naught! it would be so great if we could be bypassed ~ we still have many many issues unfinished from Irene and that was 14 months ago... the town just ripped up a couple of temporary bridges so they could build the permanent ones, and then it got too wet to work, and now this??? sheesh...!

Roger would never bite the hand that feeds her scratch,biscuits, pie, pumpkin, bread, grass, birdseed, tomatoes, grapes, lettuce, apples,worms, bugs, leaves, macaroni, watermelon, and cantaloupe. OH....I forgot a unlimited supply of layer crumbles and a clean secure Five Star resort to live in.

I think Roger, as much as OK will deny it... is his favorite...and I think that Roger knows this... and this is why she feels entitled to so much of his attention and food gifts... She is a BR after all... Wilma's had me wrapped around her little toe since she was a bitty thing... bet Spot is the same way... lol
