The first egg is the best.

Poor Belle, she thinks she smells very good, like the best perfume in the world and wonders why you don't recognise divine aromas too? Haha. I think Roger signs her eggs doesn't she? Roger would probably love to roll around on a dead skunk.

I know! Dogs are supposed to have such an acute sense of smell, I don't understand why they'd get near a skunk- more than once anyway. It must have burned off all her receptor cells or something. I think she had a pretty good headache the first night. She doesn't stink until she starts panting, and then woowhee, hot humid nasty skunk breath. It's supposed to start cooling off at night, so I suppose I'll have to let her back inside soon (she has a thin coat, my poor lil baby).

Roger would have rolled on the skunk, but the odd thing was that it didn't smell a bit. Belle must have inhaled everything!

SIX......Roger Laid Six Eggs Today. Great Job Roger!!!!!!!! (today is use reverse psychology on roger day)

way to go OK! lol, except now she'll expect more than apples, pumpkin, scratch, grass, Pie and 3 lbs of seeds for her efforts...

FIVE... and maybe SIX today... at dusk, when I went out to do my last check, one of the RIR's was in the nest, presumably to sleep for the night, I need to make Royce leave the coop at night, stay in the enclosure... or get them to split up between coops. the store bought coop's roost is for 6 LF... and there are 7... but there is another coop large enough for all 10 if they were so inclined... yet, every night, there is a hen in the nest, interestingly enough, it's a different hen every night. They've all had their turns...

So, I won't know if I had a perfect day until tomorrow morning. it's an easy one, I'm missing Isis' bright blue green egg. she's the only one who is still laying in the afternoon.

Once upon a time I was walking through the woods in N.J. on Christmas Eve just before midnight. I was on a camp that was closed for the winter. My b-i-l was the care taker. I knew all the employees. The bears were in hibernation, so off I went with my dog. He runs ahead to play with a white cat. An all white fluffy cat. Wait a minute.

No one has a white cat on camp.
"Run, Chopper! Run!!!" It was too late. The albino skunk had lifted its tail.
Two days later the only groomer around opened. We had bathed poor Chopper in vinegar already. She bathed him three more times ... And used every last one of her left over Christmas bows on him! She said he was sprayed twice in the face, and once on the neck. I had watched him run off after the skunk. Jumping around, doing the puppy play dance. He just wanted to play!
The smell lasted 6 months.

That must have made for a very Aromatic Christmas! Poor doggy. The face is the hardest to clean, next to the lungs, that is. Did you ever watch the Pepe le Pew cartoons? Even Pepe confused cats and skunks!

In honor of Roger (and use reverse psychology on Roger day), I hereby dedicate this poem.

She is a paragon of virtue, a model for the rest.
Polite, demure, respectful too. In short, she is the best.

Her beauty is unrivaled. Her feathers are divine.
Her Papa declares loudly, “I’m so happy that she’s mine!”

And as for eggs, she has no peer. She always lays the most.
We read the news on BYC where OK proudly boasts.

And who is this most perfect hen we all wish that we had?
Why it’s Roger, who, despite the rumors someone spreads,
Is never, ever bad.

Yup, I am old enough to remember.
It has been about ten years, and I can still smell and taste the stench.
Quote: Very funny
