Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

W4W, you're the first to guess correctly!

I'm nice when people ask, and say better half... but he's my butt head... !!! to be fair, when he is nice... he's very nice, and I give back the same that he puts out... which means when he is rotten... he gets rotten in return. I often wonder why I let him turn my life into a Pizza Scented Version of He*l. then I remember zz top, and nub mouth...

in 2010, the FDA changed the labeling laws, so anything sold to the public is supposed to list all the ingredients, not supposed to use the term "natural flavor" anymore without qualification, bc most of the time, that means gluten... in some form... and they are supposed to list in bold type, all the common allergens, like wheat, nuts, soy, eggs... but, when in doubt... I don't touch it. and I always look for that statement, manufactured in a facility that produces wheat products...

MC did you look the roo over to find where the blood came from? You'd have to smack him pretty hard to get blood, most likely its a scratch to the comb from the fight, a tiny wound bleeds alot. Next time try a plastic jug or something...haha. with the weather so warm and sunny this week I'm having alot of minor squabbles. I don't usually do anything unless they run to me, then the offender skids to a stop, or if they won't quit...then its time out. I found a great use for my old coop, its 2x2x8 feet long and four feet off the ground, I just moved it over to the coop, and with a few adjustments, now have a laying nest. So the hens can enter from inside the coop and i can collect eggs from outside. Put a couple of eggs in there for bait...lets hope it works. It can also be a brooder this time. One of the hens already went inside to check it out. That was brave, so soon.

I haven't picked him up, but I have gotten in his face. I am not seeing blood anywhere. I didn't think I could make him bleed, but a whack in the head with a metal pot is a lot more painful than a kick in the chest with rubber boots.
I feel it is abuse, but I don't know of an alternative. I do think he is done with his attitude. He has been good all week since Rocky manned up. I have been thinking his attitude was half hormones, and half being overwhelmed. He was bottom of the pecking order, then I removed 5 roosters, and added 15 chicks in the same day.
Anyway, I don't see the cut, but will keep looking.
4 eggs today. No more baiting the nests. They have them all figured out now.
ACW, you gave me a good idea. Not sure I will use it, but thanks.

Yes, he is probably overwhelmed with the changes. I would lock him up for a few days as an attitude adjustment. Depends on the rooster but I also make sure he knows who is giving him the food. I've never used a stick or anything but my hands, or foot, on one. I'd like him to know it all me and i can catch and subdue him, and that I'm much bigger and stronger than he is. I've never had a game rooster attack me. Its like it never even occurs to them. I've had other breeds though, they just don't have common sense...I had one challenge me...once, then I just snap kicked him until he dropped those hackles and ran...never again. But to be fair, I had bare feet and didn't want to injure him, (or me) just wanted him to know he'd lose. Though, it didn't stop him from going after everyone else.

Royce has tested me 2ce. both times he kicked me, I was able to swipe his feet out from under him. Carried him around upside down for a few minutes. the 2nd time, I paraded him in front of his ladies. he was good in between for about a week, and has been good since the 2nd time. he's a little over 7 months, from what I've learned, that's the right time for him to test his limits. he knows I'm the boss, and he still comes over to eat from my hand.
Si lets me pick him pretty much anytime I want, he's cool... Archie is a bit skittish, but he totally trusts me, he knows I look out for him...

Snap kicked? Is that the same thing as a drop kick?

Haha, not through any goal posts of life, no. You use the top of your foot, and you can either push, or snap quickly, and you can move forward fast, like a fencer...you are less likely to wind up on your butt that way.
