Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Haha, not through any goal posts of life, no. You use the top of your foot, and you can either push, or snap quickly, and you can move forward fast, like a fencer...you are less likely to wind up on your butt that way.
LOL....you know i'm just messin with you. At least you never pistol whipped any of them. Your a good sport ACW. My kind of people.

yeah, the medical model vascillates on eggs every decade at least... the wonderful incredible egg... then... ooh bad egg! bad egg!.... we do make our own cholesterol, and we do get more from foods. my dad has, get this one... hypercholesterolemia... this means he overproduces his own cholesterol. back in the '70's, when he found out, his cholesterol was 1500! and with the meds available at the time, couldn't get it below 300! mind you, he's slender and very active, always was... so we didn't get much red meat after he was dx'd... as meds improved, so did his condition.

most celiacs are lactose intolerant. especially during a flare up. I'm also sometimes fat intolerant, and the rest of the time, fat resistant, meaning, it just runs through and out. with celiac, one never knows what the body will absorb and what it will not. when I'm in a bad flare, I can eat a good 3,500 calories a day, but was lose almost 2 lbs a day, and suffer from "relative starvation". bc I've gotten so ultra sensitive over the last few years, I don't eat out at restaurants unless they specialize in GF foods. there is one great spot about 45 miles from me, Chef/Owner's wife and daughter have celiac, so he has his staff trained well, and everything on the menu can be made GF if it isn't already... place is really nice, just wish is was closer... I also don't eat at my friends homes often, as risk of cross-contamination is too great. had an invite for thanksgiving that I had to decline... she just doesn't get it... told her I can't eat the turkey if the stuffing is baked inside the bird, nor can I eat the turkey if the stuffing is baked outside the bird, but baked in the oven on a different shelf from the bird, but in there at the same time... had to be done on the stove top... and she was like "huh?" i can just see, in my minds eye, that she would not be careful with utensils... or the helpful children would inadvertently mix something up... it's easier to just pick up a rotisserie chicken or a big fat steak after work on T-day, and relax at home... this is one of the biggest beefs I have with my BH, he always brings gluten food to my house, for himself, but he contaminates the counter tops (leaves piles of crumbs everywhere), the dishware, the cookware, the appliances... when I have tried to explain why he shouldn't do this, his response is "I should suffer your pain??" yes, in my house... you should. esp. if you love me.

W4W... brown rice bread is good, better if it's toasted... bit dense and crumbly but... look for Udi's brand.

the brown rice pastas are awesome (now)... years back, it was so bad, gummy, slimy... and super smelly. i gave up pasta for decades till i found Notta Pasta and Tinkyada a few years ago... before this, I would rather have eaten, say... OK's dirty socks after he walked around the chicken pen with no shoes on...
I feel so honored. But i'm not sure if thats a good thing or not.

Quote: Square foot gardening is in raised beds with a grids forming 12" X 12" squares that are filled with a mixture of three things....equal parts of Compost, Peat Moss, and Vermiculite. Only six inches deep is necessary. Supposed to be the perfect mixture for plants. It is easy to maintain, compact, hardly any weeds and the part I like best is it is easy to keep the deer out of it with a simple fence or mesh around it. You cannot grow a regular open garden around here because deer will stand in line to wait their chance to get in and get something to eat. I wish I had a load of horse s**t

W4W, you're the first to guess correctly!

I'm nice when people ask, and say better half... but he's my butt head... !!! to be fair, when he is nice... he's very nice, and I give back the same that he puts out... which means when he is rotten... he gets rotten in return. I often wonder why I let him turn my life into a Pizza Scented Version of He*l. then I remember zz top, and nub mouth...

in 2010, the FDA changed the labeling laws, so anything sold to the public is supposed to list all the ingredients, not supposed to use the term "natural flavor" anymore without qualification, bc most of the time, that means gluten... in some form... and they are supposed to list in bold type, all the common allergens, like wheat, nuts, soy, eggs... but, when in doubt... I don't touch it. and I always look for that statement, manufactured in a facility that produces wheat products...
Roger is dying to come to your house for a visit. She wants to poop on your BH's truck. And she won't stop at once.

I had my horse manure trucked in, then rototilled it into the clay and rocks, then covered it with wood chips and hay. The hay seeds shouldn't sprout I its deep enough, but if they do, you can turn the hay, or just pile more on to mulch. Read a book called gardening without work...sounds perfect to me. Check your local feed stores to find the manure delivery guy. One ton aged is 50 bucks here. One pile of manure provides endless recreation for the chickens too. My layers thought the rototiller was designed for them, they even started sticking their heads in close to the tines to get the bugs first. It took awhile to get stuff done. Fortunately no chickens were rotod into the garden.

Gardening is like a competition here. Often you find two places together with massive gardens. One time I drove by a place that was neck and neck in the garden race...one guy was standing in his garden, watching a deer inside the neighbors fenced garden, eating his competition. What people will do, or won't do to win. :/ I guess you need a twenty foot fence. I am trying to come up with a fence for my area, maybe cattle panels in a hoop....mostly to keep the chickens out, the deer would never get that close I think., at least, not for long.

That image will be in my head all day.
Just when I think my hens don't care too much about me, I find out they know the treat bucket (or is it because it is blue?). I opened the door for them to get out, and stood watching the new pair. I look down to see I am surrounded by beaks, outstretched waiting for their treats.
That reminds me. I bought a large suet cage to put their veggies in. There is a small chain on it, but no hook or anything to keep the top closed. Is it supposed to have one, or is it supposed to hang open? I am thinking if it was supposed to stay open,, there wouldn't be a lid at all, or the lid wouldn't be barred too.

I'm not sure about the cage, I tie it down with strings crisscrossed. (Yeah, imagine that chicken head peeking down amongst the rotating tines, under the guard.....well, I guess they aren't known for cognitive function) evolution is not keeping up.

I am now anxious for the girls to start laying. The 4 hens I bought to get me through are being re-homed next weekend. I was going to sell them at the swap in May, but someone was in need. I will be down to one egg a day between then,, and when the other 14 start. On the plus side, I am going to save on feed this winter, and that is four more chicks I can get in the Spring .... Or Christmas. Or because my husband feels bad for something ...

I am looking at more Ameraucanas, Welsummers (maybe), and really want Marans.
