Should I convince him to let me keep birds?

Lol. Really, I do want to know peoples' opinions. Not just enabling, lol. I want to know what other people in my position would do/have done. If I had asked another forum that didn't understand, then they'd immediately just say "tough dookie, shut up and deal with it". Lol.

I said - I'm getting chickens. We discussed logistics, but not whether I could or couldn't have them.

We discussed getting another kitten. Ultimately, I made the executive decision as to when. Only because it made sense to me to get it whilst I was on holidays and able to put in the time necessary to settle it in before the house got back to its chaotic self.

Feller does the majority of the dog walking, but as far as the rest of the animals, I am the primary caregiver.

We have been discussing what animals we will have once we have some land. He thinks I should have a riding horse (bless him) and I was thinking we should have a work horse. I may agree to a riding horse if it can pull a cart and if we can use it for transportation to reduce our reliance on the car. I just want to keep the freeloaders (especially the big eater types) to a minimum.

My point is, I can have any animal I want because it makes me happy and when I am happy, Feller is happy.

I would straight out ask him why he made those comments when you were having to get rid of those birds when you were at your mom's. Tell him you took it to mean that when you lived there, you could have them. Ask him what he meant? In an innocent way of course

Good luck!

I don't ask either (unless it's gonna cost a wad). DH just comes home and finds chicks/ducks/etc. in a brooder in the den. He'll just ask "why are there ducklings in the den?" I just say "they needed a home". He proceeds to Lowes and buys what's needed for the new enclosure.
It's really not that simple, there might be a few grumbles along the way.

Well... I got a final no today.

He now says that they're too much of a mess. I tried to explain that if you make a hutch with a catch pan, it wouldn't make a mess. I even gave him the pouty face. Still a no. Call me pathetic, but I could cry.

Now the answer has changed. He wants to pay off the truck and house first. Not entirely sure why, it's not like we're hurting for money really, and not that they'll cost that much, besides, they'll bring something back, besides my happiness... Oh well, at least I will get to have quail at some point in time!!!

indeed she is. I wanted 6 little hens...then came home with 5 more from the feed store and then ordered 21 more, then I wanted ducks I had to order 10 minimum, I got 11 then I wanted some Suede babies...had a broody so why not? Spckledhen sent me 7 eggs that she had and added 5 delaware eggs. So I show DH a pic of her dellie rooster and he says..I want one of those. I say good because she sent 5 of those eggs too.

When the eggs went in the bator (her 12) I added 6 from my coop (without teling him) so I could fill the center of all the trays of the egg turner...I have 8 babies in the house now.

I am absolutely no help to you whatsoever...I say get a dozen quail and the slowly start adding more. hahahahaha
