Should i dust for mites/lice as a preventative?

..hi..i keep seeing so many lice/mites posts...i am wondering if i should dust with something just be be safe?..to prevent a break-out and all the horrors that go along with it...and what should i use to dust them and the coop?...and do they get ill at all from the use of the "dusts"?...and..lol...can we eat the eggs if we have dusted?...thanks for your time, Wendy

I would just keep checking once every few weeks before treating. No need to coat everyone in a mild poison if there's nothing significant to kill.

hi..so..dont dust to prevent a problem?...i know our wild birds have them..we had a wild birds nest that was crawling with them....what should i use if i decide to do it?..thanks, Wendy
