Should I force them to like being held?

My girls hated being picked up & held in the beginning. Screamed bloody murder, but we talked softly yo them and stroked them & all but Owl our Wyandott like to be held now. If my BR see us sit down, they are all over us, and then then BO come over & want to be held too.

I used a disposable heating pad (the kind that interacts with the air, and is a one-time-use one), made a little pinned-up pocket in my old T-shirt to stick the pad into the bottom of, and snuggled a chick into it. The chick loved it, fell asleep Kangaroo-style, while I worked at the computer. She's been way more comfortable being held since then.

Sure makes ME feel good at least!

I'm a new chicken owner so pardon my dumb question. But what do you give for treats? My chicks are close to 4 months old now and so far they dont like anything I have offered them in their pen - lettuce, cantaloupe, etc. Also I only have 4 RIR and 1 of them lets me walk up to her and touch her anytime I want and the other 3 run from me. I can catch them if I really try but then they reach out and peck me like they are ticked. I would hope that a treat they would like would at least get them to let me touch them easily.
