My neighbor has a rooster that they can't keep anymore and they wanted to know if I wanted him and their last two hens. But I have a hen with a broken leg in my coop and I wasn't sure if they will get along. Or if he will hurt her.. I am going to ask my neighbor if he is aggressive to the hens.. Any advice is great! Thanks

If you only have the one hen, I would get the two hens and not the roo.

How do you manage a hen with a broken leg?
she never said she only had one hen...she just said she has a hen with a broken leg...you can have a hen with a broken leg with 1,000 hens

It would depend on how aggressive the rooster is...it may not be a good idea especially if the break is fairly new...if there is any way you can keep the rooster and his current 2 hens separate from your hens until the break heals that would be ideal

My hen has had her broken leg since she was really young and she gets around by hopping. She has learned to live with it. She is in with 10 other hens in my coop right now and she gets along fine with them. She roosts on the bottom row at night so she can fly. Anybody have a better idea now that they know what I mean? :)

Well, I still have the same idea. That rooster's going to injure your special needs hen. There's no way you're going to keep him off her and she can't outrun him. If you have an established flock that works, why go through all the drama of bringing in new birds just because someone offered them to you?
