I had 2 meaties last year when I had no clue what I was doing. I didn't get attached because they didn't have any personality. BUT, I didn't want to butcher them. What the heck was wrong with me?! They both just dropped over dead, and what a waste. But they sure did crap a lot! This year I bought 8 RIRs at the local auction with the intention of eating the roos. The only thing now is that none of them are RIRs - it doesn't matter but I really wanted to try RIRs because I heard they were yummy! I don't think I would raise meaties any more, I think I'm going to go the dual purpose bird road. But that's just me.
