I have kept chickens since I was a little kid and I have many friends with ducks so ive seen the best of both worlds.
My personal opinion is that chickens seem easier to keep and they're not as noisy either. Plus, they don't require water to swim in and poop in.
I would say a duck egg is more tasty than a chickens though

Yah i have a fox proof pen with chicken wire underground but I would have smaller holes than that tho( you will have to make a pen

Or maybe find a way to keep them inside and let them outside sometimes for natural light.
