Should I help my chick hatch?

This is one thing my wife and I disagree on. I say if it was supposed to make it the chick should make it on it's own, she helps. Guess who wins? 3 guesses and your 1rst 2 don't count. :he
I never help but if it was completely zipped thats different. Otherwise nope has an egg not even pip on day 24 opened it up was still alive but died after I broke a vein...was never gonna make it anyways so my rats got it. Every time i helped one they die regardless so now if they are late they go.

It sounds like that chick wasn't ready.
Even though it was late

If every assist has resulted in death you may want to review your method. You have to go slow, step by step to ensure you don't hit a vein or hatch them premature.

Well my husband won this time. I was not going to help. He was the one pressuring me to help.
However, it made it through the night. This egg was the smallest one in the incubator and my hen that died last week is her mom so I did feel more of a need to help so I can have a memory of my special hen.

Hopefully baby pulls through
Smaller eggs usually always need help

I had another egg pip probably 72 hours ago it made one hole and it hasn’t done anything since. Is it most likely dead?

I would check it
Hard ti say if it’s dead but usually if no progress after 24 hours I would check
Bator readings are not accurate
It’s best to calibrate a hygrometer and thermometer
Then place inside with the eggs
Keeping the thermometer at same height as the top of the eggs

I dispatch late eggs now not worth the time as everytime I did help the chick never lived long they died could be a week etc they are to weak to hatch they are to weak to live.
