Our first chick hatched during the early morning hour Sat then Sat during the day 3 more followed. Sunday 2 more hatched. My broody still has 3 unhatched eggs under her and today is day 22. 2 EE eggs and one BC maran. I candled the 4 blue eggs at day 15 and they looked great, so I don't know why the last 2 blue eggs haven't piped. I don't know what's going on in the BC maran egg because it's so dark. So to sum it up, She has 2 EE chicks and 2 EE eggs, 4 BC maran chicks and 1 BC marn egg under her. The 3 remiaining eggs haven't piped. Should I chip at the shell a little, or is all hope lost?

In this case just leave them alone with your Broody. If they hav'nt hatched by the time she leads her family out then I think they may have quit or too weak. Mother Nature knows best

It's possible that eggs on the edges of the nest were cooler & will take another day or two. Just keep an eye out. Sounds like you had a good hatch already. They don't all hatch.

Sounds like you have different breeds hatching so that is a factor I only help if they have pipped and 2 days have passed. Helped too early and I have had chicks bleed too much from their umbilical cords.

Thanks y'all. It's so hard to know that at day 15 all four looked exactly the same, and only two of the four have hatched. I hope they pip today. I can't stand the thought that the chicks might have died in the shell.
