Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

I havent pipped that one egg as of yet.. mother-in-law came over for the day & its been hectic.

I would think if the smell was that bad, bacteria would have permeated the shell and if cold... It is only 3 or 4 maybe, so I wouldn't take a chance on opening the bator and doing something to the rest. JMO...hopefully someone else pipes up. Best of luck though

Normally i never wash an egg.. if the good ones reek and have goop all over them one of two things can happen... they may be fine.. that may be already contaminated

there are differing opinions on washing an egg before incubation.. one group says it's fine.. the other group says the water will wash the bacteria into the egg

IF you are going to try incubating these.. i would wipe them off as best you can with a damp cloth..
there is a risk of having bacteria enter the egg.. but chances are it may have already happened since the goop was splattered all over them anyway

when i worked at the commercial hatchery and we had eggs explode.. all we did was pick out the bad ones and put the rack right back into the hatcher.. we never washed the eggs off.. but they were also in a BIG hatcher.. in a BIG room full of other BIG hatchers.. NOT in our home.. obviously you dont want stinking eggs in your house.. so wiping them off may be your best option

I have never washed my eggs before. I've also never had any explode, or had a wonderful hatch yet either.

and
thats AFTER I had wet it a bit! You can see where I hadnt wet it yet- totally white and couldnt even see any blood vessels!

I treated these the same way as the others and here they are waiting for the last few vessels to dry up :)

I
am beginning to think that perhaps it hasnt been the humidity level in my incubator at all... perhaps it was during development under the mama hens?! Would they have been able to hatch like that?

These babies are going to be just fine. I guess now if all of this is a result of being under then hen, then perhaps ALL of them need me????? I guess I'm about to pip them all... do you think thats best? opinions immediately please!!! If im doing this ive got my work cut out for me!!!!!!!!

If I can hear lil clicks from inside the egg, has it ip yet or is it working on cracking the shell? i candled it and its a tough call whether its ip yet or not. this is egg 4 from my "good egg" stash lol
