Should I help?

the natural hatching has no bearing toward artificial incubation.
we are trying to mimic ..
and we do a good job, mostly.
if you are incubating with an incubator, I defy you to open it all day like the duck leaving her nest.
she knows what she is doing.
My ducks only leave their nest long enough to get a bite to eat, take a drink and head back to the nest.
usually about a 10 minute ritual.
when the duck gets back onto her eggs. it is instant heat and humidity.
after someone opens up the incubator, it is a long time before these two items stabilize again.

I agree with not wrapping the egg with a paper towel.
evaporating water cools things down. and eventually the towel will dry out and really stick to that egg.

My power was out for 13 hours...no heat ....All Call and Mini Appleyard...All thriving and due next week.....I open and close my incubators all through the hatch phase to put them into the Brooder...I have excellent hatches.
