Should I open this egg further?

Today I observed a chick trying to pip externally at around 8am. I returned back around 2 and saw that the chick had made no progress. Curiosity got the better of me and I opened a bit of the egg to see what was going on. The chick was alive but now it's around 8 pm and the chick still hasn't made any progress. I've been keeping the membrane moist by using a cotton pad in order to prevent shrink wrapping. Should I assist this chick or not?(it's about day 20 and two others have hatched without a problem)

Day 20? If this is a chickens egg, there is still another day to go for when most will hatch.

Maybe ensure that it can breathe so that it doesn't suffocate.

Don't see any veins but cant really tell from pic. But it can take up tp 24 hours from external pip to zipping out. I would probably give it until morning to assist any further beings it only pipped at 8:00 this morning.

Update. I decided to let the little guy hatch and set an alarm at 3am. I opened the bator at 3am and surprise surprise, the little one had already hatched. Guess I should learn being patient .

It is not uncommon for chicks to take a good long nap, some times a whole day/night, before their final push. It's A LOT of work for the lil'uns to dig their way out of their shell.
