Should I put dirt/sand in the brooder for baths??

I bought some playsand and put it in a shallow metal pan today and put it in the brooder with them. So far all I have been witness to is watching them eat it...but either way...I was scared to use the grit and gravel with the calcium carbonate. On another note...I did buy them some live crickets today and it had to be the funniest thing I have seen in awhile. They went wild and instintively knew the crickets were food. OMG...what a show, the only thing missing was the fast fiddle or banjo music!!! LOL

That is eggxactly the tune I was thinking of, but couldn't remember where I heard it!!!

Now it is really funny...because not only do I have the memory of the Chicky Babies chaseing those crickets and then each other...I am laughing about the Benny Hill memories...

If you have an Ikea near you, we purchased a base cabinet on clearance for $25. We use it with a baby gate velcroed onto the front and it has been the perfect brooder for my girls. Good thing, as I'm far from getting a coop made and they are getting BIG.
