Should I put my rooster down?

Anyways, my question is, with all that in mind, should I give him time to get stronger and get them to get along/re-home him, or just put him out of his misery?

You could keep him inside and try to figure what's wrong with him, then try to re-introduce to the flock when it's warmer and he's better. Properly caring for sick birds long term is time consuming and mentally draining, so that's something to consider.

I would not try to re-home him because his leg problems and un-thriftiness could be disease related.

Euthanasia really might be the best choice for both you and the rooster. I know it's a hard decision to make, and only you can make it. FWIW, any time I have euthanized one I have never regretted it, and as horrible as this might sound to some, I have felt an immediate sense of relief after doing it.

My heart goes out to you while you make this personal decision. I have a dachshund that had an almost complete paralysis from from the mid section down. After western medicine and chiropractic solutions failed I started moving him about with exercise bands to keep his back end level with the idea that his body could heal itself. It did. He walks now not completely normal but with a quality of life and sass. It wasn't quite his time. The body is a healing machine. Trust your instincts which are true and loving.

Unless he is super special, I would cull. It is so easy to find nice roosters. I have abou5 15 beautiful roosters and I can’t find anyone who wants them. I can process 5hem but they are friendly to humans and are very beautiful. One is in my avatar.

I think you're doing the kindest thing for your chicken. Sometimes the hardest thing for us is truly the best thing for our animals.
