I picked up two 12-week old pullets from a local chicken hatchery/farm two weeks ago. They were both very alert and healthy looking when I picked them up. But when I got home I noticed that one of them had a cough. I was hoping it would go away but she still has it. Since then, I connected with someone on Facebook through a chicken group who says that she picked up a pullet from that same farm a few weeks earlier than me; it developed a cough and watery eyes and ended up infecting her entire flock. She thinks it's MG but didn't take the chicken to the vet.
Luckily I kept my two new pullets quarantined from the rest of my existing flock. And I think I know what I should do: return them (the person who runs the farm offered to take them back and refund me). But it's hard because I've become attached to them. They also still seem quite healthy apart from the one chicken coughing every once in a while.
What would you do? Return them, I'm guessing? Probably not worth the risk if it is MG.
