Should I start Laying Mash

Ok, I can buy start and grow by the scoop, but I really want to start buying my feed somewhere else. The guy that runs the store is a real jerk.

hmm, everyone around here is telling me that layer pellets are fine for my two month olds. I wanted grower, but not crumbles. So they said the layer would be fine since the chickens' intent is to lay. The bag says differently and I've felt weird about it. Should I definitely get the grower to avoid kidney problems?

I am finding myself in a similar situation. My husband and I have 8 pullets that are 18 weeks old. They are all red stars. They just arrived last Thursday. We are new to having chickens. I asked around and was told to get layer crumble. Should I get some starter/grower at this point or just stick with the crumble?
