Should I try and kill this bobcat?

Pics
We have a resident bobcat that ate one of our ducks last year while free-ranging under “loose” supervision. I was hoping they would move on, and maybe they did for a bit, but they came back this spring. Our ducks now get supervised “foraging walks”, but stay in their run (during the day) or barn (during the night) when not closely supervised. We respect the cat and the numerous other predators we have (bears, weasels, millions of raccoons, foxes, hawks, and the occasional fisher). We could kill handfuls of predators every day, and the ducks would never be fully safe. So, we do what we can on our end to keep them safe while still keeping their quality of life high and hope for the best. I don’t blame the predators for trying. Ducks (and chickens) are tasty and have zero defenses. However, that’s just how we roll. I believe that if we can not outsmart the predators, we should not continue to have ducks.

Now, I can’t remember who was posting about their coyote problem in SoCal. You have my sympathy. My husband in I used to live in the Mojave desert, and the coyotes 100% ruled the land. Folks where I live now will talk about a coyote problem, but I just shake my head. I’d take my bobcats and raccoons and bears and hawks over those desert coyotes any day!

Darn bobcat has gotten 4 of my chickens so far. It is coming during the day. I have ran it off 3 times and can't handle the losses anymore. Will do what needs to be done if I get a chance. I have razor wire around the fenced-in chicken yard but I guess it is able to jump over that (5' high fence w the razor wire on top of that). I raised it some so hope that stops it.

Well the bobcat is still around. Obviously this is over nite. I found the electric fence destroyed this morning, several electric fence rods bent, one plastic connector missing. So I obviously zapped him. Scary to think he was in the duck yard. I have a baby bunny in there too. Hope bobcat didn't get my bunny but ducks secure over nite inside shed so they're ok. Wow.

Friday morning 7 am outside my dining room window. Bobcat waiting leisurely by my duck pen waiting for me to let them out I guess. Just 10' from the duck fence and 25' from my dining room window. Just chilling. So glad I didn't let my cats out yet.

As long as you free range, you will continue losing birds. I would never kill such a marvelous animal. You are making "The Old Country Buffet" for predators and then you want to kill them for doing what is totally normal. I think it's really cruel. Instead, get electric netting fence from Premier 1 Fencing. I'd get the tallest deer fencing they have and you can move it when you want to change areas the birds go to. One shock and no ground predator will bother them. You will STILL lose to Owls and Hawks, but you have to understand you are causing the losses with your choice.

We have ducks in movable covered pens and surround them with electric netting to stop ground predators. Haven't had a single loss in 13 months since we set it up. Ducks get fresh grass daily and bugs and are totally happy.

Bobcat was back Sunday during the day outside the duck pen but they are ok. Got it on video 12:35 am this morning but this site doesnt accept eufy video format. He is just strolling past duck yard again and looks into the camera. This picture was 2 weeks ago

Illinois Dept of Natural Resources will issue me a nuisance permit and it will be valid for 30 days. It will be for unlimited number and he encouraged me to "hit them hard" for 30 days and try to get some help and someone who would want "the resource" after dispatching. Got friends coming in to help. I have seen at least 3 different ones and IDNR said that makes my area "hot".
