Here's the deal- I had 13 eggs in the bator. Two hatched yesterday and a third hatched earlier today. Three pipped and died in the shell after some pretty severe heat fluctuations due to power loss. Today is day 21. There are no pips and no cheeping coming from the others. I'm pretty sure they are dead in the shell as well. Temps spiked to 104 yesterday and dipped to 89 this morning with the power failure. Humidity went up to 99% with the temp dip. I think they are all goners.
So I have three tiny babies in the brooder and they seem so alone. Mama hen hatched out three babies earlier in the week (Wednesday to be exact). Should I tuck them in under her? The two that hatched yesterday are very toddley and the one that hatched earlier today is still getting her legs up under her. The three that mama hatched on Wednesday are already zipping about. Will that matter? I don't want these poor babies trampled. I really want them to have the best chance at life.
Will mama hen notice? Will she stay close to the tiny babies even though hers are already active? I really should tuck them up under her tonight, but that means I won't be able to supervise her reaction first thing tomorrow.
Argg! I really thought I'd get more of the original 16 to hatch and would have a brooder full. These three are so alone in there! What do I do?
