Should I use a heater in my coop?

I'm in west texas. The coldest we have gotten was around 14 farenheit. Dallas does not get colder than us. We are getting into the 20s at night and my chickens are doing just fine. Just make sure your coop has proper ventilation and they arent roosting in a breezeway. I also have a molting hen right now and shes doing just fine without heat.

How do the 11 gram black-capped chickadees survive our NY winters not only without supplemental heat but without a coop?
I was talking about Serama’s. I have no experience on this my self, but on a Dutch chicken forum people say the bigger Serama’s do okay in our climate (about 20 - 15 days with freezing temperatures during the day). But for the smaller Serama’s it’s a hazard when its gets below zero C . This is because there origin is more tropical.

Here we have tiny birds in winters too that do well in the freezing colds. One is even called Winter king in our language (wren) .
