Hi there. I'm using pine shavings in my coop but I'd like to use the poop in my garden next year. Should I use compost activator where I store the poopy shavings to get it to decompose quicker? I've read garden lime is something I could mix with.

Pine shavings will deplete the compost of Nitrogen. I would not use pine shaving in the garden unless they have been fully composted for a year or more. It takes a while to break them down. The Chicken manure may or may not have the Nitrogen needed to do the job: it depends on how much manure is present. Also, the compost would need to be wet to help it get started.

Ammonium Nitrate added to the shavings would do the trick.
