I adopted a game hen from our local animal shelter. She's secluded from the rest of my flock and she's already laying eggs, almost one a day. Should I wait to eat her eggs because she was a stray?

Only reason I can think of is: that if she belonged to someone who could have been medicating her, or the shelter may have medicated her.

A valid point, though you would think if they were spending money on meds, they wouldn't lose her.....

Hard to say why she was lost and not 'found', they might have thought a predator got her and not bothered to look for her at AC...or just plain not bothered.

Anyway if the new owner is concerned, and it seems they are...or maybe not as they haven't been back, finding out how long the shelter had her and waiting 2-3 weeks to eat any eggs, which I think is the withholding for most meds, would be the safest route to go.
