Should I worm? Chicken hasn't laid eggs in about 4 months

Hmmm. Interesting. I just thought it looked big but I guess it's ok. She seems small compared to the roo even though she's a little over a year old.

Its good as long its not really hard, or really huge or have a bad odor. It should be nice size(be able to see it sticking out a little under the feathers) and empty in the morning before you feed.

It is big, it has to grind her food up. She's a full-grown chicken, isn't she? The poultry grit is made for chickens... just give it as it is.

If it looked smaller then it's probably fine!

Yes, she's a little over a year old. She just seems small compared to the rooster. I got more pics of them today. It's hard to see her feet in the pics though. I even took a pic of her poop. I didn't see any worms in it though but I think I saw a piece of grit. You should have seen my husbands face when he realized what I was enlarging on my computer screen. Sometimes it's easier to see more in pictures. I'll put a pic of her on here but I'll spare you the poo pic. as it's somewhat graphic.

Here's the roosters legs. Check out that spur. It's probably 1 1/2" long. I would hate for him to attack me with those.

She is on her way to feeling good again. I'll let you know when she lays an egg again.

She's odd! Does she have a sideways comb? xD Her feathers are so pretty, though! If she's that young, she shouldn't take long to recover. I'm so glad she's beginning to already! And you know, you have the most perfect rooster!

I think it's mostly the worm eggs that come out in the poo, but I'm not sure. You wouldn't be able to see them - they're microscopic.

She's suppose to be 1/2 silkie and 1/2 cochin. I don't know if her comb is normal for those breeds but only the part near her beak is attached. The rest just hangs over.
The rooster is an amazing bird. He's very strong and hardy and tries his best to take care of the chickie. Him and 2 other roos came out of the woods one day and hung around for a week or so. Eventually the others left and he stayed here. They were all very pretty roosters. He was here about 1 or 2 years with nobody taking care of him going around to the different neighbors decks and crowing. Standing out in the cold sleet etc. We felt sorry for him. We got the chicken to keep him company but thought we could just put her outside to free range with him. We found out quickly everything wants to eat chicken so we put a coop up that weekend and have been trying to care for her and him since. I don't know how most roosters and chickens act but these act like they love each other. I think it's really neat how he will pick up food for her and put it in front of her to eat. He's missed his tail feathers several times trying to keep the dogs away from her too. He's a great rooster.
The rooster attacked the turkey once and slashed it's face so bad the turkey couldn't see out of one eye for several days. The flesh hung out about an inch but it healed up in about a week with no intervention. Turkeys apparently heal well too. You couldn't even tell he had been cut after a week or so.
Pic of Turkey on handrail in snow storm. Took through the window so it's not a great pic.

My husband just came in and said the chicken laid a big one in her coop. Not an egg put the pooh. I wonder if she's been backed up and maybe the grit is helping to clean her out. He said it looks like about 10 times worth and that she has to feel better after that. I'm going to have to go check that out.

That explains it

Silkies have sideways rose combs and cochins have single combs the normal way around. So she has a sideways single comb

That rooster does certainly sound amazing! Do chickens live in the woods where you are? Yes I think they are in love

Yes, that's good! She'll have had a lot of clearing out to do and now everything's flowing properly. It's normal for chickens to do egg-sized poos occasionally (especially when they're broody and they've been holding it in for ages). It's nothing to worry about, it just means she's working better now - as long as it's the normal colour and not red or anything.

And nice turkey! xD

We found out a few months ago that someone down the street had bought a bunch of young game roosters and the wild dogs came around and broke into the coop so he let the remaining ones go and some ended up here. I don't know where the other two went. I'm guessing another neighbor somewhere took them in or they are living in the woods somewhere. There's woods surrounding us and if an animal comes around they tend to like it here for some reason. The turkeys never seemed like they were that scared of us so they may have belonged to someone at some time too. One was injured when they came here and died in a few weeks and the other stayed here for a little over a year. It would perch on the tailgate of the truck but when it was breeding season he called up a female and he left not long after that. It was just as well because the rooster was getting angry with him quite often at that time. I think it tried mounting the chicken a few times.

One of my four chickens has laid for one week and then stopped laying tell now , and one only layed once, one layed without the shell ,, what's the problem ?
