Should we start to sell coops??

So I've learned not to BYC to early in the morning. I was really lost illegal avian, sorry that I missed your first post.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. There is a window in the rear of the coop. and there are vents in the soffets,( The area between the roof and walls) They let a nice amount of air flow into the coop. They are covered on the inside with hardware cloth.

And yes everyone is right, pictures of the details.

Thanks so much everyone for your input, even the stuff that I missed

I think its a great idea and I would want one!!! If you have a truck DELIVERY for the cost of gas may sell that house! I would be willing to pay for delivery! humm... how far away from me are you again? I am in NW PA... I could be your next customer. And also how about offering made to order??? say someone wanted to request a certian size...you could build it to what they want with a limit on sizes or offer a few different sizes and styles. As long as they were not overpriced I bet you could make a killing!!!!

I think there is a market for a nice small coop, for just a few chickens. Most of the people that I see looking for pre-built coops are planning on having 2-5 chickens. People that want to have 1-2 dozen chickens are usually looking for a large shed.

I think you need to either build on site, deliver or make them extremely portable. It just depends on the style of coop you want to build and the market you want to sell to.

If you want to try to have local places sell them, then they definitely need to be portable and you need to allow for the store's profit margin. If you want to sell them on your own, then you just need to decide on one or more designs and how you want to market yourself. Craigslist, a web page, fliers at feed or other stores, farmer's markets, local forums and word of mouth are all possibilities.

I would buy a coop like that if it wasn't beyond my budget.
