Someone recremended to me to repelace the meat bird's feed for the late week of life with cracked corn instead.
Apparently it improves the flavor for them and fattens them up.
Is the true and would you recremend it?

Recently I was talking to a person who didn't like the way her meat birds were finishing off. She had been using finisher up to the process date.
After experimenting she found a method that works for her and she said it firms up the meat prior to processing. I have bought chicken from a local grower and the meat was soft and not as flavorful as it could be (but still better than grocery store chicken).

She uses 18% layer pellet and wheat, one week before they went to the processor. She is very happy with the results, and I must say the meat was firmer and more flavorful.
I have yet to try it on my own birds but I am going to.

If you only do it for the last week, I doubt you will see much results for your efforts. A diet of corn will give them more fat though, really yellow slick fat.
